Hi, my name is Yuri and I’m a nature and landscape photographer from the Nature Island of the Caribbean, Dominica. I have a regular 8-5 job, but spend most of my spare time in the field, scouting new locations or chasing that perfect shot.
What’s this website about?
If you’re interested in seeing Dominica in a whole new way, through my photography, I’d be happy to share with you regularly.
Every two weeks, I send out a newsletter with my latest blog posts and a featured image. It’s free of charge and you can leave anytime. Sign up below 🙂
I wasn’t always into photography. In fact, my interest in the Arts started out in music. However, approximately 5 years ago, I was bitten by the photography bug and I’ve been shooting ever since.
Dominica is such a beautiful place and photography allows to showcase that beauty in a way that few other modes of Art can.
Photography gives me the ability to create a scene so vivid and realistic that you’d want to reach out and touch it. I can create a reality that you would want to walk right into.
Press and Projects
In December 2015 I was humbled to be one of three local photographers whose works were accepted in the prestigious 10th FIAP Inter-Club World Photo Cup (read the article here.) Our images were ultimately exhibited in Athens, Greece as the best of those submitted.
During the Summer of 2016, two well-known Caribbean websites picked up on my photo-book project and wrote beautiful articles about my work. You can view the articles here: Rum Shop Ryan and Caribbean Journal.
My biggest project to-date has been the compilation of my earliest images into a photo-book called Majestic and Magical: Come Explore the Nature Isle. It is a 144-page hardcover book with more than 130 images of Dominica.
I am currently raising funds to publish 250 copies of this book via crowdfunding website, Kickstarter. Please check out the project page to learn more about the book, the rewards available to you, and how you can help make it a reality.
