Sundays are usually my days in the field, so I used the afternoon of Saturday (May 21) to scout for interesting locations in the Grand Bay area.
Officially known as Berekua, the village of Grand Bay is approximately 30 minutes to the south of Roseau. One would need to travel along the main road, through Loubiere, Bellvue Chopin and then Pichelin to get to the village.
We went down to Geneva and Stowe, then turned around and drove up to Grand Coulibri Estate. I had never been to the latter and it was interesting to see a few colonial ruins on the former estate.
I captured the images below as reminders for a future visit:
To my mind, the site with the most potential is the bay at Grand Bay. The natural cove is surrounded by lots of greenery and I’m sure I could use the crashing waves as a foreground subject on a future photo-trip.
