Can you believe that more than six months have passed since I launched the Kickstarter campaign to fund Majestic and Magical?! These months have gone by so quickly.
For those of you who have been following my progress, you would know that the project was successfully funded so by now I know you’re wondering, “where’s the book?!”
Rest assured… it’s on its way. I recently shared a positive update with my Backers and now I’m sharing it with you. Read further to find out more about why it’s taken so long and what you can expect in the coming weeks.
The last few months have been fraught with delays, as it relates to the photo-book, Majestic and Magical. However, I can see light at the end of the tunnel and things are definitely looking up! Let me share some of what has transpired…
First of all, it took Kickstarter more than a month to transfer the funds to my bank account after the campaign closed. They offered no explanation for the delay and after my initial inquiry, I was so happy to have the lines of communication open, that I asked no further questions.
I love my US bank. I’ve been with them for more than 10 years and they have been good to me. However, when I attempted to transfer the Kickstarter funds to the book printers, we encountered a few restrictions.
After weeks of back and forth, one support representative suggested a traditional method of transfer with a turnaround time of approximately two weeks. I was happy for the solution, but not too happy for the time lost.
Bless these kind souls for their continued patience and guidance throughout this process! It took about a week to actually find the physical check sent by the bank and then to apply my deposit. Only then could we could get down to business and advance the project.
Although we had been in constant contact while I designed the book, now that I was ready to print, there were many technical details that needed ironing out. This was a bit tedious and took me through the Christmas season and into 2017.
Now, the good news!
The good news is that I now have timeline for the delivery date for Majestic and Magical… March 2017. What’s more, I’ve just received what’s called a white dummy of the book.
In book publishing, the white dummy sample is a prototype of the book using the exact specifications (paper weights, cover type, etc) of the final version. I’m supposed to confirm these finer options in order to move on to the next step.
I think the quality is exquisite. Check out the video below and tell me what you think with a comment.
How an image looks when it’s printed on paper is vastly different from what it looks like on your computer screen or smartphone. As such, the printers will be sending me color proofs very soon. A color proof is simply a test print that shows exactly how the colors will look in actual printing.
And yes, I’ll share another video with you when I get those proofs. In fact, I will continue to post these updates until the book is printed and in your hands.
I received the color proof today and will review it over the next couple days. At first glance, it looks beautiful and I can’t wait to hear your feedback. In the meantime, tell me what you think about the book based on what you saw in the video above.
Simply leave a comment below. Thanks… and stay tuned for more updates!
